I recently had a chance to test out my new Spibelt at the ING Miami Marathon. My friend Dori, that was also doing the half at ING Miami, mentioned that she has a Spibelt. Our friend Sue didn't know what we were talking about. So when we were all picking up our race packets at the Health Expo for the ING Miami Marathon, we took her by the Spibelt booth.
SpiBelt's are a little, stretchy pouch, which is attached to an adjustable, elastic waist band. Runners typically use the SpiBelt to carry their car keys, and other gear with them, while they are out running. Sue thought it was a pretty cool idea and ended up buying a Spibelt to use for the race.
I have a reflective SpiBelt, it looks medium gray in sunlight, but glows bright white at night. The reflective SpiBelt is a nice feature as I'm currently doing most of my training runs after I pick up the neighborhood kids from school. I usually don't start my runs until 5:15 at night, and end my long runs after the sun goes down. On the rare days when I get up early to go run, I start at around 6 AM, before the sun comes out. The reflective SpiBelt helps me be more visible to passing motorists.

Carry Lots of Gear
I also have the race clips attached to the belt of my SpiBelt. I attached my racing bib to the clips on the SpiBelt, instead of having to puncture my clothing trying to attach the bib with safety pins. The SpiBelt doesn't look that big, but it is made of a really stretchy material, which expands when you place more stuff in it.
I carried my cell phone, two gel packs and my driver's license in my SpiBelt on the day of ING Miami. I don't normally carry my phone with me when I run, but ING Miami Marathon is a huge event, tons of people. I knew that Sue, Dori and I all run at different speeds, so we needed our phones to call each other once we got over the finish line.

Additional Information
Besides running, SpiBelts would come in handy for walkers and hikers. I think I'll use my SpiBelt the next time we visit my husband's relatives in Surf City, NJ. I can carry my ID, boarding pass, a few dollars, lip gloss and MP3 player with me in the SpiBelt, instead of trying to dig through my carry-on-luggage to find everything. SpiBelts are available in a ton of solid colors and even a few patterns. SpiBelts are manufactured by Overton Enterprises. Visit the SpiBelt website or the SpiBelt blog for additional information on this terrific product.
SpiBelt Man
I got to meet Overton Enterprises Founder and President Kim Overton's younger brother Bobby at the ING Miami Health Expo. That's Bobby shown in the above picture. Bobby is a National Sales Representative for Overton Enterprises. He is also a runner and triathlete and models for some of the SpiBelt promotional literature. Do you want me to tell you about the life size photo of Bobby that was on display in the SpiBelt booth? He wasn't wearing a shirt. This is a family friendly blog, and I'm married, with children, so I won't say anything else about the photo. :)
