Club Med Race Photos
Yesterday I posted up my report of the very first triathlon my husband and I participated in on Sunday: Club Med Triathlon #1. Today I was checking out the official race photographs on the Event Pictures website and decided to purchase a couple of digital photos taken of my husband and I during the race.

To Sock or Not to Sock
During the past few weeks I've been experimenting going sock-less during my bike and run trainings. I figured my feet would be pretty wet after the swim portion of a triathlon, and that it would be a faster transition to get into my bike shoes without first putting socks on. I've done up to a 30 mile bike ride, while sock-less, with no problems so I was confident that the bike portion of a sprint distance race wouldn't present any issues. The bike portion of the Club Med sprint triathlons is 10.72 miles.
I also decided to go sock-less during the run portion of Sunday's race. Since it was a sprint triathlon, the run portion was only 5k, or 3.1 miles. I've done runs up to 6 miles long without socks, so I knew 3.1 miles would be no problem. Still not sure if I totally like running sock-less. I think for events which have a longer run, I would take the time to put on a pair of socks after getting off the bike.
Above: Crossing the finish line. It's official, the Bike Diva is now a triathlete!
Above: Rob crossing the finish line of his very first triathlon. It was an emotional day. I was waiting by finish line, and we both broke out in tears when Rob crossed the finish line. He broke his arm November 20, had bladder cancer surgery December 15 and under went the second of one year's worth of cancer treatments on Thursday afternoon. So the fact that he was even at the race was pretty amazing.
