The Strider balance bike is a metal bike made especially for children between the ages of 2-5 years old. No peddles are available as well as no training wheels. This is contradictory to the traditional children bike. To move forward the child will kick off the ground as if they were running, thus pushing the bike forward. The Strider is a perfect starter bike that teaches balance, steering and coordination. But the greatest benefit of a strider bike is the independence that is gained from a child mastering balance. Once mastered the transition to the tradition two wheeled bike will be a snap.
The Strider balance bike is the perfect bike for the little ones. I wish that I knew about balance bikes when my older children were of age to use them. They and I would have had a much easier time learning how to ride. Between having to run after my son as he rolled into the intersection and running with my daughters bike holding onto the back of her seat trying to keep her upright I would have have a better time just giving them a strider and letting them go at it learning on there own terms. I now have a young 3 year old and I am thrilled to say that he has taken to his balance bike whole heartily.
I love this strider bike. Key features that make the strider light years a head of the competition. One feature that I LOVE so much is the quick release seat clamp. This is not a feature that comes with the bike, you will have to pay an extra $6.00 for it but once installed their is no more use of tools to adjust the seat. Messing with other balance bikes this feature is nowhere else to be found. Other bikes you would have to spend at least 10 minutes just to adjust the seat. That includes finding a tool, unscrewing and taking out the screws, adjusting the seat and putting the screws back in place. What a headache. Secondly, the integrated kick stand. This is a new feature but it is not on any of the other balance bike brands. Lastly, the integrated gliding footrest. Its under the seat on the back frame. My child loves this feature.
I have to say that I have been very impressed with my Strider. This is a A+ bike.
Kenneth Elliott owns http://www.balancebiketrainer.com were you can find different brands of balance bikes like Kazam balance bikes and Strider balance bikesjust to name a few.
Actually, both the no-tool, easy adjust seat and the kickstand ARE available on another balance bike. Both come standard on the PV Glider bikes.
