West Palm Beach Race Series
Sunday, November 2nd marked the last time trial race, for the 2008 season, of the West Palm Beach Race Series. The season started in February 2008 and went through November 2008. The 2009 season will start up again in February, 2009.
My husband, Rob, and I both race for the On Your Mark racing team. Rob and I, along with fellow On Your Mark team member Charlie Lockerson, all participated in Sunday’s 15K time trial.
I took 5th place in the women’s 45-54 division, this was my 4th medal I’ve won in the series. Charlie did awesome, and took 2nd place men 45-54, this was the second medal he’s won in the series. And Rob took 5th place men 45-54, this was the very first medal he’s won in the series - WOO-HOO!
The West Palm Beach Race Series is put on by Mike & Joan Purdy of Purdy Construction & Developement, Inc. An awards dinner will be taking place within the next two weeks, to hand out prizes to the cyclist’s who have completed the series. In order to qualify for these additional awards, bikers must have completed a minimum of five 15k races and one 40k race. Doing Sunday’s 15k time trial now qualifies us for the complete race series. I’m not sure how many awards they give out, so we probably won’t get one, but a free buffet dinner is always a good thing.
